First Medical Conference on Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery – kurdish
Project Overview:
In response to the rising incidence of cardiovascular diseases in Northeast Syria, and in an effort to enhance scientific and professional collaboration between local physicians and their counterparts abroad, the First Medical Conference on Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery was held in Qamishlo. This event marked the first specialized cardiology conference in the region, serving as a milestone in advancing cardiology services and medical exchange in Rojava.
Objectives:
- To establish a professional platform for cardiologists in Rojava to exchange knowledge and experience with colleagues from outside the region, particularly from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
- To discuss the latest global advancements in cardiology and cardiac surgery.
- To improve diagnostic and treatment standards for cardiovascular conditions in the region.
- To introduce international protocols and best practices in cardiac catheterization and cardiovascular care.
Key Activities and Topics Covered:
The conference was attended by a wide range of cardiology specialists and surgeons from within Rojava and external guests from the Kurdistan Region. Key thematic areas included:
- Modern techniques in cardiac catheterization
- Diagnosis and management of prevalent cardiac diseases
- Review of international cardiology treatment protocols
- Impact of stress, environmental factors, and socioeconomic conditions on heart health in conflict-affected regions
The event also provided a platform for presenting clinical case studies, fostering open discussions about local challenges in cardiac care, and identifying collaborative solutions.
